The Department of Defense's Congressionaly Directed Medical Research
Programs (CDMRP) require electronic submission of proposals. However,
before beginning the electronic submission process for these programs,
principal investigators (PIs) must register online at https://cdmrp.org/.
Once registered, PIs will receive a password which allows them to
return to the same Web site (https://cdmrp.org/)
to complete an online Proposal Information document. This
document is the first step in the submission process, and as part
of this document, PIs must provide:
- The name of the contract representative. That person is Andrea
Martin of Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA), and the appropriate
e-mail address is dod@umn.edu.
- The "institution's proposal control number." PIs should
use their PRF number.
- The "Applicant Organization." The organization is
the "University of Minnesota," and the address is SPA's.
Once PIs complete and electronically submit the Proposal Information
document, the DOD will send e-mails to the PIs and to SPA with log
numbers allowing the process to move forward.
Prior to final proposal submission, the DOD requires SPA to electronically
approve the proposal. Because of this, it is imperative that PIs
work closely with SPA staff (dod@umn.edu)
during the proposal process. As with all electronic submissions,
PIs must submit a paper copy of the complete proposal and the PRF
to SPA by no later than 5:00 p.m. of the day prior to the application
deadline--preferably two to three days prior to the deadline.
