U.S. Department of Education e-Grants

Users of the USDE e-grants system will need the USDE user IDs of their SPA grant administrator (GA) and the SPA authorized representative who submits and signs on behalf of the Regents of the University of Minnesota.

These user IDs must be listed in the User Profile as Application Managers, along with the principal investigator and anyone in the department that will assist in the preparation of the proposal.

Enter the IDs and privileges as follows:

  • Grant Administrator (GA): User ID -- View and Edit Privileges
  • SPA Authorized Representative: SUEMARS01 -- View, Edit and Submit Privileges

To determine your GA, contact SPA at 612.624.5599 or look in the SPA directory http://www.ospa.umn.edu/directory.html.

Once you have worked your way through the application and completed all required forms to the best of your ability, put each section in the "complete" status, print out a complete copy, and bring it with a completed PRF to SPA (do not hit the submit button!).

The proposal will then be logged into the EGMS system and your GA will review the documents and contact you if there are questions. If there are none, the GA will arrange for the authorized representative in SPA to submit the final proposal (* see below). Once SPA receives an e-mail from USDE with a PR/Award Number, we will print and fax the required documents to meet the 3-day deadline, as stated in the USDE instructions.

To enter the USDE e-grants system, go to e-grants.ed.gov/egWelcome.asp.

*SPA has confirmed with USDE that the authorized representative that submits the proposals does not have to be the same person who signs the Form 424 and faxes to USDE.
